 A SHRIMP FARM WITH PASSION

Lee Jackson Farms is located in  central Alabama about 150 miles from the Gulf coast. 

 

The farm was formed in 2001 to produce the saltwater shrimp. Under the direction of Auburn University’s Department of Fisheries, Litopenaeus vannamei shrimp raised in brackish water pumped from an underground aquifer was our first crop. The brackish water has been used for the past 20 years in the production of channel catfish, but our farm is dedicated to shrimp. 

 

The farm comprises two earthen ponds containing a total of approximately five surface acres of water.  There is room to grow to almost 80 surface acres of water. 

Lee Jackson Farms is owned by Daisy Jackson and Lee Jackson Jr.  Lee is a graduate of the University of Alabama and a member of the Alabama Inland Shrimp Producers Association.
